Resolving Conflict in The Church

The church should not depend on the courts to solve conflict in a church. The court system keeps a person from experiencing the transformation of the power of Jesus Christ. The court system also hinders the church’s finances. A question to ask in times of conflict, “Consider if we have let Christ out of conflicts.”

The Bible has wonderful principles of managing conflict. The Bible lays out some Scriptural principles in dealing with conflict in a church. First, we should view the conflict as good not evil. Viewing conflict as something God allows in a person’s life grows a person closer to God. Second, going to court is not the correct way to handle conflict. Accepting the wrong should be the Christians biblical way to resolve conflict. Third, the church should be a place a person should be able to go to resolve conflict. Fourth, the Bible tells a person how to settle a conflict. They need to privately go to the person that has wrong them. If that does not work, take two or more witnesses with them. If that fails, then the church should get involved. Fifth, a believer must address the issue and settle it with the other person before they can experience true worship of God. Sixth, if the person fails to act fairly, seek peace, and reconile with the other person; treat the person as an unbeliever.

Realizing Christ is the answer to all problems is essential to resolving conflict. If a person is willing to change, asking, Christ can change an individual. God is waiting for all to trust and rely on Him. God gave a person a tool, the Scriptures, to handle conflict.
